Send Love & Care to Taiwan

UPDATE: NOW MATCHING DONATIONS MADE UP TO  $500,000!

On April 3, 2024 at 7:58 AM local time, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck 25 kilometers off Taiwan’s east coast near the city of Hualien. Within minutes, the Buddhist Tzu Chi Foundation, whose global headquarters is located in the city, mobilized its disaster response.

In addition to providing emergency financial assistance (EFA) to those impacted, Tzu Chi volunteers have been providing essential items that include eco-blankets (made from DA.AI Technology), temporary beds; tents; privacy partitions and screens; drinking water; hot meals, and more. The Tzu Chi Foundation is collaborating with disaster relief agencies in the affected areas, too, to best utilize available resources and expand its impact across Hualien County.

Tzu Chi has also set up an Earthquake Disaster Response Center near the site of the quake, to act as a local hub for real-time information and relief activities. In addition, the founder of Tzu Chi, Dharma Master Cheng Yen has visited earthquake-damaged areas in the city to show solidarity and express her concern to survivors, those on the frontlines, such as police officers, firefighters, rescue workers, Tzu Chi volunteers, members of Fo Guang Shan (a Taiwanese Buddhist organization), and fellow NGOs.

Despite being so far, there are two main ways you can help:

  • At Master Cheng Yen’s request, please make sincere prayers for all those impacted as they maneuver through this crisis.
  • Make a donation to support Tzu Chi’s earthquake relief efforts in Taiwan, which is providing meaningful care to help survivors get a foothold and recover from this tragedy.

No act of goodwill is too small to make a difference.
