Support People Recovering From Hurricane Ida
On August 29, Hurricane Ida made landfall in Louisiana as a Category 4 hurricane. As it headed to the Northeast as a tropical storm, it brought flash floods across the eastern seaboard. Catastrophic damage has been left in its wake – leaving countless homes uninhabitable, hundreds of thousands without power, and more than 60 dead. As we mourn these tragic losses of life, Tzu Chi is determined to bring relief.
Tzu Chi’s Southern, Greater Washington DC, Mid-Atlantic, and Northeastern Regions are serving families and individuals severely impacted by Ida. States our volunteers are serving include (but are not limited to) Louisiana, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, and New York. With your support, we can provide emergency financial assistance, as well as emergency relief materials to help survivors get by during this difficult time.
In fact, we have already begun distributing personal care items to displaced college students from Tulane University, where power is not expected back on campus for weeks. We’ve also sent DA.AI Technology eco-blankets to give physical comfort to those staying at temporary shelters in Louisiana, and are working with community partners like the American Red Cross Texas Gulf Coast Region to do so. By making a generous donation, you can ensure we provide comfort, compassion, and relief this Atlantic Hurricane Season.
